the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.


“Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah seasons of joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love truth and peace.


she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”


to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,


even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.


For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.


and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.


that you may fear the Lord you God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.


Finally, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, just as you are doing, you do so more and more.


For God has not called us for uncleanness, but in holiness.


But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.


who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not in virtue of our works but in virtue of his own purpose and the grace which he gave us in Christ Jesus ages ago,
