And it was told David, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.”


And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring evil upon Absalom.


And the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled because of this thing; and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me who of us is for the king of Israel?”


Your own mouth condemns you, and not I; your own lips testify against you.


In the fulness of his sufficiency he will be in straits; all the force of misery will come upon him.
