Jacob said to him, “You yourself know how I have served you, and how your cattle have fared with me.


So she gave him her maid Bilhah as a wife; and Jacob went in to her.


Then Rachel said, “God has judged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son”; therefore she called his name Dan.


While Israel dwelt in that land Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine; and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.


The sons of Bilhah, Rachel's maid: Dan and Naphtali.


(these are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob—seven persons in all).


These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,


Of the people of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, every man able to go forth to war:


And these are the names of the men who shall attend you. From Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;


Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,


And he gave him the covenant of circumcision. And so Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob of the twelve patriarchs.
