Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness,


Therefore I swore in my anger that they should not enter my rest.


Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most glorious of all lands,


Nevertheless with most of them God was not pleased; for they were overthrown in the wilderness.


Behold, I have set the land before you; go in and take possession of the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their descendants after them.’


And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.


For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end,
