that the Lord may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons take heed to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.’


“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes and obey my ordinances and keep all my commandments and walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.


Ought you not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingship over Israel for ever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?


Yet the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons for ever.


And all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And Jehoiada said to them, “Behold, the king's son! Let him reign, as the Lord spoke concerning the sons of David.


Now therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, let thy word be confirmed, which thou hast spoken to thy servant David.


And as for you, if you walk before me, as David your father walked, doing according to all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my ordinances,


then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man to rule Israel.’


Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!


How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to thy word.


The Lord swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne.


If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies which I shall teach them, their sons also for ever shall sit upon your throne.”


For thy steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in faithfulness to thee.


“Thus says the Lord God: This also I will let the house of Israel ask me to do for them: to increase their men like a flock.
