There was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David; and David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul became weaker and weaker.


And David became greater and greater, for the Lord, the God of hosts, was with him.


And he built the city round about from the Millo in complete circuit; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.


And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them in time past; the Lord was with him.


For Mordecai was great in the king's house, and his fame spread throughout all the provinces; for the man Mordecai grew more and more powerful.


Yet the righteous holds to his way, and he that has clean hands grows stronger and stronger.


The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and for evermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.


What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us?
