Bless'd is the man thou chast'nest, Lord, and mak'st thy law to learn:

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, And teachest him out of thy law;

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law,

Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jehovah, And teachest out of thy law;

The people you discipline, LORD, are truly happy— the ones you teach from your Instruction—

Ere I afflicted was I stray'd; but now I keep thy word.

It hath been very good for me that I afflicted was, That I might well instructed be, and learn thy holy laws.
