But when he slew them, then they did to seek him shew desire; Yea, they return'd, and after God right early did enquire.

When he slew them, then they sought him: And they returned and enquired early after God.

When He slew [some of] them, [the remainder] inquired after Him diligently, and they repented and sincerely sought God [for a time].

When he slew them, then they inquired after him; And they returned and sought God earnestly.

But whenever God killed them, they went after him! They would turn and earnestly search for God.
