I pass like a declining shade, am like the locust tost:
I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
I am gone like the shadow when it lengthens and declines; I toss up and down and am shaken off as the locust.
Like a lengthening shadow, I’m passing away; I’m shaken off, like some locust.
But thou, Lord, everlasting art, and thy remembrance shall Continually endure, and be to generations all.
Man is like vanity; his days, as shadows, pass away.
