Nor, as the Lord commanded them, did they the nations slay:

They did not destroy the nations, Concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

They did not destroy the [heathen] nations as the Lord commanded them,

They did not destroy the peoples, As Jehovah commanded them,

They didn’t destroy the nations as the LORD had ordered them to do.

a fruit-bearing land in the midst of brine, before the malice of those who dwell in it.

A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
