The people then of Israel down into Egypt came; And Jacob also sojourned within the land of Ham.

That’s how Israel came to Egypt, how Jacob became an immigrant in the land of Ham.

And he said that he would destroy them, yet Moses, his elect, stood firm before him in the breach, in order to avert his wrath, lest he destroy them.

And he said that he would destroy them: had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach: To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

By these his signs and wonders great in Ham's land were made known.

In Ham's land he did wondrous works, things terrible did he, When he his mighty hand and arm stretch'd out at the Red sea.

In Egypt land the first-born all he smote down ev'ry where; Among the tents of Ham, ev'n these chief of their strength that were.
