For the ransom of life is costly, and can never suffice
(For the redemption of their soul is precious, And it ceaseth for ever:)
For the ransom of a life is too costly, and [the price one can pay] can never suffice–
(For the redemption of their life is costly, And it faileth for ever),
The price to save someone’s life is too high— wealth will never be enough—

I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight.
Or, ‘Save me from an opponent's hand’? Or, ‘Ransom me from the hand of oppressors’?
Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David?
