It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.


A ruler who oppresses the poor is a beating rain that leaves no food.


Under three things the earth trembles; under four it cannot bear up:


an unloved woman when she gets a husband, and a maid when she succeeds her mistress.


I have seen slaves on horseback, and princes walking on foot like slaves.


There was a man in Maon, whose property was in Carmel. The man was very rich; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. He was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
