Some give freely, yet grow all the richer; others withhold what is due, and only suffer want.


A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water.


The people curse those who hold back grain, but a blessing is on the head of those who sell it.


Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and will be repaid in full.


Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.


Whoever says to the wicked, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations;


When the wicked prevail, people go into hiding; but when they perish, the righteous increase.


When you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.


Give liberally and be ungrudging when you do so, for on this account the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.


If there is among you anyone in need, a member of your community in any of your towns within the land that the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tight-fisted toward your needy neighbor.


Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
