When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech.


Whoever belittles another lacks sense, but an intelligent person remains silent.


One who is clever conceals knowledge, but the mind of a fool broadcasts folly.


A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.


Those with good sense are slow to anger, and it is their glory to overlook an offense.


A gossip reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with a babbler.


Argue your case with your neighbor directly, and do not disclose another's secret;


All the officials did come to Jeremiah and questioned him; and he answered them in the very words the king had commanded. So they stopped questioning him, for the conversation had not been overheard.


You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not profit by the blood of your neighbor: I am the Lord.
