the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”


For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?


When the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”


While he was speaking, a Pharisee invited him to dine with him; so he went in and took his place at the table.


On one occasion when Jesus was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the sabbath, they were watching him closely.


And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying, “This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.”


All who saw it began to grumble and said, “He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.”


Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting at the table with them.


For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon’;

One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and took his place at the table.
