The king said to Haman, “The money is given to you, and the people as well, to do with them as it seems good to you.”


So he released Barabbas for them; and after flogging Jesus, he handed him over to be crucified.


So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas for them; and after flogging Jesus, he handed him over to be crucified.


They began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man perverting our nation, forbidding us to pay taxes to the emperor, and saying that he himself is the Messiah, a king.”


So Pilate gave his verdict that their demand should be granted.


As they led him away, they seized a man, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and they laid the cross on him, and made him carry it behind Jesus.


But they were insistent and said, “He stirs up the people by teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee where he began even to this place.”


They shouted in reply, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a bandit.


Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus;


But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked to have a murderer given to you,


See, here is the king whom you have chosen, for whom you have asked; see, the Lord has set a king over you.
