But the king said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? If he is cursing because the Lord has said to him, ‘Curse David,’ who then shall say, ‘Why have you done so?’ ”


But he said to her, “You speak as any foolish woman would speak. Shall we receive the good at the hand of God, and not receive the bad?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.


but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.


Many seek the favor of a ruler, but it is from the Lord that one gets justice.


In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; God has made the one as well as the other, so that mortals may not find out anything that will come after them.


I form light and create darkness, I make weal and create woe; I the Lord do all these things.


For thus says the Lord: Just as I have brought all this great disaster upon this people, so I will bring upon them all the good fortune that I now promise them.


Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster befall a city, unless the Lord has done it?
