They organized them by lot, all alike, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar.


Now the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem; and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in the holy city Jerusalem, while nine-tenths remained in the other towns.


The lot is cast into the lap, but the decision is the Lord's alone.


The sailors said to one another, “Come, let us cast lots, so that we may know on whose account this calamity has come upon us.” So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.


And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles.


Their inheritance was by lot, as the Lord had commanded Moses for the nine and one-half tribes.
