They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside.


Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.


As he approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.


Some were saying, “It is he.” Others were saying, “No, but it is someone like him.” He kept saying, “I am the man.”


So the two of them went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they came to Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them; and the women said, “Is this Naomi?”


He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and on them he has set the world.


The servants of Achish said to him, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing to one another of him in dances, ‘Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?”
