See, before God I am as you are; I too was formed from a piece of clay.
I will bring my knowledge from far away, and ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
He indeed shall speak for you to the people; he shall serve as a mouth for you, and you shall serve as God for him.
Therefore thus says the Lord: If you turn back, I will take you back, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall serve as my mouth. It is they who will turn to you, not you who will turn to them.
You shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear; for they are a rebellious house.
So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.
