For you have exacted pledges from your family for no reason, and stripped the naked of their clothing.


When the ear heard, it commended me, and when the eye saw, it approved;


The blessing of the wretched came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.


if I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, or a poor person without covering,


if I have raised my hand against the orphan, because I saw I had supporters at the gate;


the lambs will provide your clothing, and the goats the price of a field;


Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself from your own kin?


does not wrong anyone, exacts no pledge, commits no robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment,


Thus says the Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another;


You shall give the pledge back by sunset, so that your neighbor may sleep in the cloak and bless you; and it will be to your credit before the Lord your God.
