The clods of the valley are sweet to them; everyone will follow after, and those who went before are innumerable.


who long for death, but it does not come, and dig for it more than for hidden treasures;


Why is light given to one who cannot see the way, whom God has fenced in?


This would be my consolation; I would even exult in unrelenting pain; for I have not denied the words of the Holy One.


“O that I might have my request, and that God would grant my desire;


so that I would choose strangling and death rather than this body.


And I thought the dead, who have already died, more fortunate than the living, who are still alive;


but better than both is the one who has not yet been, and has not seen the evil deeds that are done under the sun.


Death shall be preferred to life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family in all the places where I have driven them, says the Lord of hosts.
