They also took their livestock and the goods that they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and they came into Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him,


his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters; all his offspring he brought with him into Egypt.


The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil. He still persists in his integrity, although you incited me against him, to destroy him for no reason.”


Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame; let them be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.


You have sold your people for a trifle, demanding no high price for them.


More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; many are those who would destroy me, my enemies who accuse me falsely. What I did not steal must I now restore?


I will break the Assyrian in my land, and on my mountains trample him under foot; his yoke shall be removed from them, and his burden from their shoulders.


Israel is a hunted sheep driven away by lions. First the king of Assyria devoured it, and now at the end King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon has gnawed its bones.


It was to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’
