Better is a little that the righteous person has than the abundance of many wicked.


You shall worship the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you.


The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.


So he agreed to this proposal and tested them for ten days.


You have sown much, and harvested little; you eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and you that earn wages earn wages to put them into a bag with holes.


You have looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because my house lies in ruins, while all of you hurry off to your own houses.


If you will not listen, if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse on you and I will curse your blessings; indeed I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.


But he answered, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
