Abner said to Joab, “Let the young men come forward and have a contest before us.” Joab said, “Let them come forward.”


Each grasped his opponent by the head, and thrust his sword in his opponent's side; so they fell down together. Therefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is at Gibeon.


There was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David; David grew stronger and stronger, while the house of Saul became weaker and weaker.


The beginning of strife is like letting out water; so stop before the quarrel breaks out.
