Abner said to David, “Let me go and rally all Israel to my lord the king, in order that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may reign over all that your heart desires.” So David dismissed Abner, and he went away in peace.


“There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”


There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.


They have treated the wound of my people carelessly, saying, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace.


When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape!
