You that boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?


What would you prefer? Am I to come to you with a stick, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?


So I write these things while I am away from you, so that when I come, I may not have to be severe in using the authority that the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down.


I warned those who sinned previously and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when present on my second visit, that if I come again, I will not be lenient—


I wrote for this reason: to test you and to know whether you are obedient in everything.


And his heart goes out all the more to you, as he remembers the obedience of all of you, and how you welcomed him with fear and trembling.


among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have turned over to Satan, so that they may learn not to blaspheme.
