When they called for the king, there came out to them Eliakim son of Hilkiah, who was in charge of the palace, and Shebnah the secretary, and Joah son of Asaph, the recorder.


They have emptied out the money that was found in the house of the Lord and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers and the workers.”


When the king heard the words of the law he tore his clothes.


I will also speak of your decrees before kings, and shall not be put to shame;


It shall remain with him and he shall read in it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, diligently observing all the words of this law and these statutes,


This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.
