By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; but when you break loose, you shall break his yoke from your neck.”


He put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the Lord gave victory to David wherever he went.


He put away the male temple prostitutes out of the land, and removed all the idols that his ancestors had made.


So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom set out; and when they had made a roundabout march of seven days, there was no water for the army or for the animals that were with them.


In his days Edom revolted against the rule of Judah, and set up a king of their own.
