David assembled all the leaders of Israel and the priests and the Levites.


These were the sons of Levi by their ancestral houses, the heads of families as they were enrolled according to the number of the names of the individuals from twenty years old and upward who were to do the work for the service of the house of the Lord.


except those enrolled by genealogy, males from three years old and upwards, all who entered the house of the Lord as the duty of each day required, for their service according to their offices, by their divisions.


This applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall begin to do duty in the service of the tent of meeting;
