There they shall be in great terror, in terror such as has not been. For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly; they will be put to shame, for God has rejected them.


and he said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has been raised from the dead, and for this reason these powers are at work in him.”


He said, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.”


But others said, “It is Elijah.” And others said, “It is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.”


For Herod himself had sent men who arrested John, bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, because Herod had married her.


Herod said, “John I beheaded; but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he tried to see him.
