As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.


and to have authority to drive out demons.


James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means ‘sons of thunder’),


When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:


And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas’ (which, when translated, is Peter).


When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were: Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot and Judas son of James.


What I mean is this: one of you says, ‘I follow Paul’; another, ‘I follow Apollos’; another, ‘I follow Cephas’; still another, ‘I follow Christ.’


whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future – all are yours,


Don’t we have the right to take a believing wife along with us, as do the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers and Cephas?
