But Abram said, ‘Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I shall gain possession of it?’
Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.
‘Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.’
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
My heart cries out over Moab; her fugitives flee as far as Zoar, as far as Eglath Shelishiyah. They go up the hill to Luhith, weeping as they go; on the road to Horonaim they lament their destruction.
‘ “If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either the sheep or the goats, you are to offer a male without defect.
‘ “If the offering to the Lord is a burnt offering of birds, you are to offer a dove or a young pigeon.
‘ “If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.

But if she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.” ’

Then he shall sacrifice the doves or the young pigeons, such as the person can afford,
‘ “If your offering is a fellowship offering, and you offer an animal from the herd, whether male or female, you are to present before the Lord an animal without defect.
‘ “If you offer an animal from the flock as a fellowship offering to the Lord, you are to offer a male or female without defect.
He said to Aaron, ‘Take a bull calf for your sin offering and a ram for your burnt offering, both without defect, and present them before the Lord.
and an ox and a ram for a fellowship offering to sacrifice before the Lord, together with a grain offering mixed with olive oil. For today the Lord will appear to you.” ’
and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: ‘a pair of doves or two young pigeons’.
