And David brought up his men with him, each man with his household. And they lived in the cities of Hebron.


And the man's name was Nabal, and his wife's name was Abigail. And she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful form. But the man was cruel and evil in his dealings. And he was of Caleb.


And Saul was told that David had fled to Gath. And he never again looked for him.


And David and his men came to the city, and behold, it was burned with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters had been taken captives.


And David's two wives had been seized, Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail, the former wife of Nabal of Carmel.
