Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the Lord, that he might perform his saying, which the Lord spake by Ahi´jah the Shi´lonite unto Jerobo´am the son of Nebat.


So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the Lord might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahi´jah the Shi´lonite to Jerobo´am the son of Nebat.


The Lord hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.


And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbor; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.


Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.


For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.


And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.


but if not, let fire come out from Abim´elech, and devour the men of Shechem, and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the men of Shechem, and from the house of Millo, and devour Abim´elech.
