A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.


He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.


He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.


Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!


In mine ears said the Lord of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.


As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.


For they know not to do right, saith the Lord, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.


Therefore thus saith the Lord God; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
