And Mor´decai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.


Esther had not yet showed her kindred nor her people, as Mor´decai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mor´decai, like as when she was brought up with him.


And he brought up Hadas´sah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mor´decai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.


And Haman said unto king Ahasue´rus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.


for we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold for bondmen and bondwomen, I had held my tongue, although the enemy could not countervail the king's damage.


Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.


Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
