Whether it be evil that one doeth unto them, or good, they are not able to recompense it: they can neither set up a king, nor put him down.

Similarly, they can neither give riches, nor avenge evil. If anyone makes a vow to them, and does not keep it, they cannot require it.

In like manner they can neither give riches, nor requite evil. If a man make a vow to them, and perform it not, they cannot require it.

Whether it is evil or good what one does to them, they are not able to repay it. They can’t set up a king or put him down.
