And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.


For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.


For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Se´ir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Se´ir, every one helped to destroy another.


And when Jehosh´aphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.


should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
