And Jo´ab answered, The Lord make his people a hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?


And Jo´ab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.


But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.


Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?


But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
