He was renowned among the Thirty, but he did not attain to the rank of the first three. David put him over his guard and council.

Behold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.

He was famous among the Thirty, but didn’t become one of the Three. David placed him in command of his own bodyguard.
