he arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the Lord wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.


Now Na´aman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valor, but he was a leper.


He was with David at Pas–dam´mim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.


Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adul´lam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Reph´a-im.


It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.


Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and showeth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.


The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.


So the Lord saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Beth–a´ven.
