He was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.


And after him was Ele-a´zar the son of Dodo the Aho´hite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:


and said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it: therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.


Of the three, he was more honorable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.


And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Aho´hite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand.
