Behold, I will send you Eli´jah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:


and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.


In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,


And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad;) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do show forth themselves in him.


Others said, That it is Eli´jah. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.


And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him; and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?


He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.


And they asked him, What then? Art thou Eli´jah? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that Prophet? And he answered, No.


And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Eli´jah, neither that Prophet?


Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.


They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
