And Abner the son of Ner, and the servants of Ish–bo´sheth the son of Saul, went out from Mahana´im to Gibeon.
And Saul's son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Ba´anah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beer´othite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beer´oth also was reckoned to Benjamin:
And Ba´asha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.
that the Lord appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.
And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon; whose wife's name was Ma´achah:
they are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gib´e-ah of Saul is fled.
For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Per´azim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
Thus saith the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathe´a, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
that they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than A´i, and all the men thereof were mighty.
and Che´phar–ha-am´monai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages:
and then the coast turneth to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the coast turneth to Hosah; and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the coast to Achzib:
And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs,
and he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:
And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephi´rah, and Beer´oth, and Kir´jath–je´arim.
And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to A´i,
And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that is not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gib´e-ah.
And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gib´e-ah, or in Ramah.
Now there was a certain man of Ramatha´im–zo´phim, of mount E´phra-im, and his name was Elka´nah, the son of Jero´ham, the son of Eli´hu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Eph´rathite:
And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elka´nah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.
