And the name of the second called he E´phra-im: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
Thus saith the Lord God; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions.
For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manas´seh and E´phra-im: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
And the border of the children of E´phra-im according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was At´aroth–ad´dar, unto Beth–ho´ron the upper;
And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the Lord hath blessed me hitherto?
And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.
