And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:
So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Ab´ishag a Shu´nammite, and brought her to the king.
Then Adoni´jah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
And he said, Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say thee nay,) that he give me Ab´ishag the Shu´nammite to wife.
And she said, Let Ab´ishag the Shu´nammite be given to Adoni´jah thy brother to wife.
and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
