That you receive her in the Lord, as becomes saints, and that you assist her in whatever business she has need of you: for she has been a helper of many, and of myself also.


But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints;


Even so must their wives be serious, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.


Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of dishonest gain;


Drink no longer water only, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent illnesses.


For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, not violent, not given to dishonest gain;


That they may teach the young women to be sensible, to love their husbands, to love their children,


For when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food.


Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
