I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the squares I will seek him whom my soul loves: I sought him, but I found him not.


Where has your beloved gone, O you fairest among women? where has your beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with you.


O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.


And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified.


And he said unto them, Be not amazed: you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.


But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances.


And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the ground, they said unto them, Why seek you the living among the dead?


Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said unto them, What seek you? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher,) where do you dwell?


Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek you?


Then asked he them again, Whom seek you? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.


And they said unto her, Woman, why weep you? She said unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.


Count not your handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I been speaking.
